HI-POD teams with USSoccer for Development Academy Finals

HI-POD partnered with US Soccer to produce 24 of the 32 games for the Development Academy Finals Week. HI-PODS towered over the fields for each game, providing each of the teams stadium altitude video without a stadium. The games were shot with multiple hi-pods and mixed with graphics and instant replays to create broadcast productions values.

Each game was delivered within hours of the match to the coaches, providing them the ability to review and analyze their player's performance. National team coaches and scouts also studied the matches. The HI-POD videos were inserted into the US Soccer website for viewing by thousands of people who access their website.

HI-POD introduces the most Versatile, Adaptable, & Affordable Endzone Camera on the Market today: The HI-POD CORE X4.

Coaches told us what they wanted, and we listened: A barebones endzone unit that is heavyduty but lightweight, durable enough for everyday use, but able to withstand the punishment of travel & weather. We included this as well as introduced the latest technological advances.

We took the best of the X2 and the X3, strengthened the collars, improved the quality of the travel case, introduced "Live on Location" Laptop capture, & included the myhipod.com site for coaches to fundraise with video footage.

The Canon ZR series is the alternative that HI-POD has packaged with the CORE X4. By wiring the wireless remote, the HI-POD user is able to have total remote control of the Canon camera without the expensive LANC protocol that was necessary in the past. But the HI-POD cabling is flexible enough to also accommodate the use of SONY Lanc cameras. So if the HI-POD user wants to switch cameras, he will be able to do so. The HI-POD Game Recorder is back in stock!

The 7 inch lcd screen with built in 80 gigabyte hard drive was a run away success. The unit provides instant replay as well as the ability to cut and log your plays without the need of additional software. This convenience makes it easy for football coaches to get back to what they do best: coach football.

The units are great because of the multiple ways to get video and power into the unit, as well as the multiple ways to get the video out of the unit. Two ports allow for power and video to enter the game recorder. The main port is a slot at the bottom of the game recorder. It is a flat ribbon connector that makes for easy input. The backup jacks are on the side of the game recorder. These jacks allow for video and power to enter thru the side.

HI-POD MOBILE CAPTURES LAPD MAYDAY SKIRMISH 07

To test out the latest HI-POD develpments, we used the HI-POD MOBILE X2 (with new dolly) to follow the Los Angeles May Day march. This a challenging event. The HI-POD user walks with the large crowd thru the downtown streets of Los Angeles. With the introduction of the new HI-POD DOLLY, Our operator was easily able to walk and operate an elevated 15foot HI-POD in the middle of the huge crowd.

The march eventually devolved into a major LAPD smackdown, with rubber bullets being shot into the crowd to disperse it.

Our operator was on the scene to capture great shots with the HI-POD X2 (and new dolly). The dolly made it very easy to move the hi-pod (even when elevated), to locations to get a good shot, and to get away from the police and crowd.

HI-POD Re-introduces the X2 MOBILE

The X2 mobile is now truly mobile. By introducing a detachable dolly, the x2 mobile no longer intimidates anyone. One of the issues we discovered over the years is that everyone loves the X2 mobile but they don;t want to carry it.

The x2 mobile is unrivalled at capturing line of scrimmage footage for sporting events. It allows the user to capture footage from 15 feet above the field and move with the play. Because the HI-POD MOBILE user's camera is elevated 15 feet, the shots are never obstructed by someone walking in front of the camera. Also another safety feature is that the user does not have to get right on the line to get the shot. The user can easily stand 10 yards behind the players get the shots and never be in harms way.

Now with the HI-POD dolly, the user can comfortably cover the entire football field multiple times in a night without working up a sweat. The user can even move the unit while fully elevated. Very Cool.

The mobile HI-POD and dolly will be available this season for rental during football season for all teams, schools, and clubs in Southern California.

HI-POD shoots Grammys for CBS.com live webcast

How do you coordinate a multi-camera webcast within 3 square feet of space. HI-POD
How do you get clean shots with obstructions everywhere you look? HI-POD
How do you get aerial crane shots with no space for the crane? HI-POD

When CBS.COM decided to webcast live from the Grammy's Red carpet, they chose to do it with HI-PODS. The available space at these sort of events is very limited because every news organization out there wants to be part of the Red Carpet coverage. So they all get packed in. And that limits the choices for what can be done, camerawise.

The HI-POD made it possible to get above the crews on either side of the CBS.com team and around the ubiquitous light stands that could have easily blocked the view of the Red Carpet.

By using two HI-PODS (each pointing at the opposite ends of the red carpet) the CBS.com crew was able to capture celebs arriving and walking down the carpet towards the CBS position with one HI-POD, and also focus on them as they posed for the still camera gallery at the opposite end of the runway with the second HI-POD.

These two HI-PODs shared the booth space with the main CBS.com interview camera and provided the necessary cutaway shots needed to give ambient excitement to the webcast.

HI-POD covers MAYDAY Protest Parade

To demonstrate its multipurpose product, HI-POD rolled out the HI-POD X2 (25 foot) model for the May 1st, 2006 protest parade in Los Angeles. The portable 25 foot unit was easily positioned close to the stage where VIPs spoke to the crowd. News trucks have mastcameras, but the trucks cannot manuever in such close quarters. The only other way to achieve these shots is by helicopter or by access to the roof of a building, which is tightly restricted. (Click here or picture for windows media movie)

Dallas Cup is the most prestigious youth soccer tournament in the United States. Clubs must be invited to participate. Not only the best youth soccer of the United States but the best of the World come to play at the Dallas Cup. It is only fitting that HI-PODS were present to document these events with the professionalism that they deserve.

Jeff Cantwell of Highshotsvideo.com used HI-PODS to record as many as 20 games at this year's tournament. - teams from Iraq, England, Mexico, Germany. "We were in such high demand, that we had scheduling conflicts amongst teams", states Cantwell.

HI-POD covers HUGE Immigration Protest in Los Angeles

Over half a million people paralyzed downtown Los Angeles this week to protest the upcoming vote on a proposed immigration bill that would make it a felony to be an undocumented worker in the United States.

The sheer size of the crowd made it impossible for the average cameraman to shoot the scene and capture the real scope of the event. The big bulky news cameras were not successful and the news trucks with their camera masts were not able to move close enough to do justice to the event. The only tool that was able to achieve real coverage was the HI-POD.

HI-POD carrying cameraman Billy Barrera comfortably hopped off the subway and into a sea of 500,000 people. "No one got the shots I got," exclaimed Mr. Barrera. "A helicopter was the only other way to do this event justice, and how much is that to rent per the hour?". Cameraman Barrera went on to say "I was able to shoot a traffic light head on, pan over to the crowd and tilt the camera up to incrementally show and endlessly receeding sea of humanity. Amazing."

HI-POD TV Spoofs OSCARS & webcasts from Red Carpet

In a spoof on the typical red carpet coverage of the OSCARS, HI-POD is webcasting from the opposite side of the Red Carpet- the Concrete Carpet. Assisted by the stationary 25 foot HI-POD and the mobile 15 foot HI-POD, the hosts and on-lookers will actually be able to bypass the security barriers and see the celebrities and comment on styles and compare fashions. Two HI-POD fashionista hosts will be interviewing these star-struck on-lookers desperate for celebrity sightings.

HI-POD shoots Adidas Global Soccer Tournament

(Feb 27, 06- Los Angeles, CA) This weekend was the Los Angeles stop for the Adidas world soccer tournament. The tournament is a 10 city world tournament with winners in each city traveling to Germany for the final leg of the Adidas tournament, which coincides with Soccer World Cup 2006 Germany. We have uploaded the first of two championship matches. (Boys Under 14). Keep watching for the second championship game (Boys under 16) Both games were shot with the HI-POD X2 (25 foot).
